  • Comic Con MTV News: Alexander Skarsgard Had ‘A Lot Of Fun’ With ‘True Blood’ Bromance

If there’s one fully fan-supported plot point in the current season of “True Blood,” HBO’s consistently complicated and sometimes divisive vampire soap, it’s the surprise bromance between vampires Bill and Eric, played by real-life pals Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgard. The two actors were happy to play up their special friendship for fans during the cast’s “True Blood” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, and judging from what Skarsgard told MTV News after the panel, the friendly future for Bill and Eric looks rosy — for now.

Regarding what he appreciates most about his character’s arc this season, Skarsgard shared, “I had a lot of fun exploring the fact that Eric is surprised by [the new friendship]. I enjoyed that aspect where he’s suddenly [looking at] Bill, this kid in Eric’s eyes that he never cared about, suddenly he finds himself protective and taking care of him. That’s not a feeling that Eric is comfortable with, because it makes him feel vulnerable.

“It’s one thing with Pam or with Godric or with Nora or Sookie, of course, but suddenly with Bill, the fact that he’s ready and wants to save him is uncomfortable at the beginning for Eric,” he explained. “After four years of Bill and Eric butting heads, it’s been a lot of fun because Stephen is obviously a dear friend of mine, it’s just been fun to play the ‘Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid’ moment.”

Continuing with the warm, fuzzy vibes Skarsgard feels for Moyer, he also extended the love toward the show’s newest addition, Christopher Meloni, and expressed hope that the former “Law and Order: SVU” actor will be a part of future seasons of the show.

“He’s amazing. It’s not easy after five years to come into a cast, we know each other so well — both off and on set — but he fit right in,” Skarsgard said. “Such a cool guy, really great actor, tough role. His first day was six pages of dialogue and half of it in Aramaic.”

So, will we be seeing more of Meloni in season six?

“I think so. Maybe, maybe not,” Skarsgard said with a smile. “We’ll see what happens.”

Finally, we asked Skarsgard to address one of the season’s more emotional moments: Eric’s release of his beloved progeny, Pam, and whether or not vampire mythology allows for a way in which makers can reclaim their progeny after releasing them.

“There better be. I want her back,” Skarsgard said. “I’m not going to tolerate an entire season without her. I’m not going to have it.”
